Speaking at the event, Governor Mbah praised the clerics’ collective 250 years of devoted service to God and humanity. “This is more than a personal celebration,” he said. “It is a testament to a lifetime of sacrifice, leadership, and spiritual commitment.”
The governor reflected on his long-standing relationship with Bishop Obodo, noting their time together on the Governing Council of Godfrey Okoye University Long before he dreamt of becoming a governor, where the bishop’s intellectual depth and clarity stood out. He further revealed that their private conversations, especially on agriculture and economic empowerment, helped shape key aspects of Enugu State’s agricultural roadmap.
“Bishop Obodo talked passionately about value addition, agro-processing, and empowering young people—not just handing them fish, but teaching them how to fish,” Governor Mbah said. “Even at a time when foreign direct investment is elusive, he is attracting it through innovative agricultural projects.”
Describing the bishop as a man of humility and deep social concern, Mbah lauded his unwavering commitment to uplifting the poor and advancing the common good. He expressed hope that the bishop’s legacy would continue to inspire faith leaders and public servants alike.
